For those who are wondering how the Chaplain Spouse Connection got started and why, this should help.
My name is Donna Cartwright; I prefer to remain anonymous so you will mainly see only my email address throughout. I am married to Chaplain Brett K. Cartwright. We are of Christian faith.
A few years ago, I started a successful online family group in San Diego due to the lack of support from our ship when we first arrived. Later I was the ship's Family Readiness Group (FRG) President and I have been hooked on Military Support Groups and helping other military families since.
I was asked by Judy Lantz, Editor of the C-Spouse Newsletter to start a group online for all Chaplain Spouses similar to the one I created in San Diego. I decided to use this format however for ease of use and convenience. There is no reason for any Chaplain or Spouse to lose touch when communication tools like this are at its peak. It is merely a tool to use for friends and family to keep in touch and be updated on ones journey. As well as each others and also to help conjoin our community. The Chaplain Community as we all know is a diverse one coming from different faiths and religious backgrounds. It is important to support each other and respect each others beliefs. You betcha I was a Girl Scout Leader! In my years as a GS Leader I always had a diverse group; ethnic backgrounds included: Hindu, Buddhist, Catholic, Sikh and Christian. I am familiar with a generalized format. Using a blog was also a means of saving or rather 'not spending' any money and "using resources wisely".
